Obituary of Joyce Akeson

Joyce Akeson of Winter Haven, FL passed away and went to our Heavenly Father on April 19, 2023. She was 71 years old.

Joyce was born in Burtonwood, Lancashire, England, on August 02, 1951. Her father was in the army and was stationed in England.
Joyce grew up in Hurtsboro, AL. In Hurtsboro, she lived on Enon Farms where she developed her strong love of dogs. She had a dog throughout most of her life. She loved to ride horses and was a local barrel racing champion. She was homecoming queen her senior year of high school.

Joyce relocated to Winter Haven in 1983 and worked as a legal secretary for many years. She was an active square dancer and loved the activity and all the many friends she made over the years. She was a member of both the Shufflin' Squares and the West Coast Square and Round Dance Association where she was secretary for several years.

Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed creating photo albums of her children and grandchildren as they were growing up. Joyce was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris Davis of Winter Haven. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Larry; her daughter, Christie Williams and husband Mitchell; her granddaughters, Abigail and Emily of Simpsonville, SC. and her son, Danny Siciliano of Dallas, TX. Also surviving are her brother Radford Davis of Winter Haven and step daughters, Melissa Akeson of Tallahassee, FL., Michele Brittle of Palm Coast, FL. and Stacy Howard of Cartersville, GA.; grandson, Tyler Howard and wife Katlyn; and great grandchildren, Elijah and Remington of Live Oak, FL .

Visitation will be at Oak Ridge Funeral Care of Winter Haven on May 9th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by a memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center of Tampa, FL. or the Humane Society of Polk County.
