Obituary of Kenneth Dykes

James “Kenneth” Dykes, 85, of Auburndale, FL passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Spring Lake Nursing and Rehab center.

Born July 25, 1937, in Ashford, AL to James and Ruby Dykes, he moved here in in 1946.  He worked in heavy equipment and industrial maintenance for Farmland Industries for 32 years and was a member of the Winter Haven Church of God.  He was heavily involved with the ministry to the church family and took a lot of pride in his ushering.  He was called the grandfather of the neighborhood.

Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Shelby Jean Dykes; his parents; a sister, Bobbie Jean Carroll; and two brothers, Donald Dykes and David Dykes.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth DeLynn Dykes and his wife LaNeda, Cathy Jean Livingston and her husband Danny and Timothy Duane Dykes and his wife Pam; grandchildren, Stephanie Queen, Eric Dykes, Natalie Livingston, Brad Livingston, Cody Dykes and Cady Dykes, Tommy Huynh, Cindy Tregoning; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm till 8:00pm, Monday, December 5, 2022, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven.  Funeral Services will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in the Funeral Home Chapel followed by interment at Auburndale Memorial Park.  Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
