Obituary of Perilie H. White

Perilie Hunt White was received into the loving arms of her savior Jesus on September 1st, 2022. She was born on September 25th, 1926 to Blanche and Ernest Hunt in Palm Beach County, Florida. She grew up, along with her sisters Ernestine and Jane in Okeechobee, Florida. She graduated from the Florida State College for Women with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Shortly after graduation she met and soon married her husband of 66 years, Jim White. They lived in Okeechobee, Zepherhills, Melbourne and Ft. Meade, Florida before settling in Haines City in 1960. Later in life they lived for a few years in Key Biscayne, FL before returning to Haines City where they lived out their years together.

Faith, family and community were everything for Perilie. The Whites were members of the First United Methodist Church of Haines City where Perilie served as the church organist and taught various Sunday School classes over the years. She was a full time Mom to three boys, Jimmy, Tommy and Bobby. She was active in the Christian Women’s Society, Book Club, Garden Club and the Heart of Florida Hospital Auxiliary where she served multiple terms as Chairwoman.

Perilie was preceded in death by her Husband Jim, her daughter Jane Claire and her sister Ernestine. She is survived by her three sons Jim White of Madrid, Spain, Tom White of St Cloud, FL, Bob White of Melbourne, FL, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her sister Jane of Athens, GA.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida. Final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, Florida.
